casname1Hello to our members, students, and interested persons from all over the world. I'd like to introduce you to our new Cinema Audio Society Website - cinemaaudiosociety.org. There you will find the latest up-to-date information about membership procedures, the Awards nominations, voting, seminars, sponsors, forums, and links to many other sound oriented organizations. Our site has been prepared by your Board members, whose goal is to bring us news, information and discussions in one easy to navigate space. As we grow our site and the CAS, you will find podcasts, links to screenings, and contact links to your Board of Directors, Officers, and office staff.

This year we have instituted updates to our membership application rules, which along with membership applications, you will find online. Membership Sponsors, who are CAS members, are now asked to write a letter of sponsorship for any applicant they sponsor. This letter will verify a working relationship with the applicant, and their credits and qualifications for CAS membership. The website contains all the information you will need for membership qualifications, as well as the Membership forms, available for download.

The CAS Awards structure is being updated. SCORING MIXERS are now eligible to be nominated along with a Production Mixer and Rerecording Mixers in three of our categories. Those categories are "Motion Pictures", "Television Movie or Mini-Series", and "DVD Original Programming". IMPORTANT UPDATE: if there are five or FEWER qualifying works submitted in any category, no award will be given in that category for the current year. It is very important to make sure you enter your projects in a timely manner! Please check out the website for all information regarding this year's awards timetable, and rules for entry, voting, and promotion.

Please enjoy, look around the site, and pass along any ideas you might have to help fulfill our mission...."The Advancement of Sound". We hope that we can encourage learning, and sharing of knowledge through this site, as well as to be a hub for sound professionals all over the world. It is all very exciting, as the Cinema Audio Society grows. And in closing..I'd like to say "THANK YOU" to your CAS Board of Directors, for all their hard work.

David E. Fluhr, CAS
President of the Cinema Audio Society
