backstageUFVA president Norman Hollyn recently announced that every UFVA member and our students, can now post free casting call notices for talent and some crew. This should make it easier to find cast in many areas of the country.

He's sure that you all work with your students during the casting process, teaching them on how to find talent. This casting service will, I hope, be useful for that task as well as a teaching tool for how professional tools are used.

And, as UFVA members, you can use it on your productions as well.

Here is how to do it:

UFVA MEMBERS CAN NOW CAST FOR FREE WITH BACKSTAGE

Visit www.backstage.com/ufva to sign up for a free Backstage account. Then click “Post a Job” to post a casting notice calling for talent. You can use Backstage to call for submissions from cast and crew and announce auditions for your film and video productions. You can quickly filter through and respond to submissions, plus you can search Backstage’s Talent Database to find even more actors in your area. Once your account is approved, you’ll also receive full free access to the Resources area of the site, which contains contact details for thousands of top production companies, casting directors, agents, and managers. Whenever you reach the job-posting “Checkout” page, simply enter the exclusive code (request this code* from a UFVA member) in the promotion code field; the code will waive the usual posting fee, so you can use Backstage for free! This special code can be used by all UFVA filmmakers and video-creators and the students of UFVA members.

*The code would not be exclusive if we published it here on the website! UFVA members can get the code from the UFVA; students may ask their professors (who are UFVA members), and Fred's own students can just email me.
