Thoughts about Thanksgiving was created by Fred Ginsburg

Sometimes going home for Turkey Day feels like a boring waste of time (for some of you, not all of you) -- but look at it from your parent's side. You are all grown up, and either no longer living at home or soon to be moving out on your own. You are adults, and no longer children. More than you can imagine, they really look forward to spending this family time together. It is a mid-life crisis; the end of an era.

You will squabble, for sure, because they still see you as their little toddlers who need advice and guidance -- rather than adults sorting out the beginning of new lives. So give in to their maternal/paternal urges, and try hard not to argue. You can still do your own thing after the weekend is over, but allow your folks to relish in the few memories of a warm family gathered around the table. It may only be a fantasy, but it is THEIR fantasy and for all of the sacrifices they have made for you to get you where you are today, they deserve to enjoy it!
