This week our topic will be: Hierarchy of Mic Techniques. If we are able to finish the lecture, then our second topic will be Introduction to Mixing Panels (use of the Mackie 1402). So read the articles in the Reading List.

Note that you should be ahead of our syllabus in terms of reading! The articles tend to be short, so you should be able to just plow right through them. And don't forget to read the other articles on the website....

After more than 40 years in the biz, I cannot stress how important it is for you to keep learning as much as you can, about all aspects of production. It is not about doing enough to pass and get a paper degree -- that will get you a cake and nice well wishes from family & friends. It is about mastering enough practical skills to be valuable in the workplace. Hollywood does not care about your diplomas, but what you can bring to the table in terms of usefulness as an employee.

After the Hierarchy lecture, you will be ready to do Quiz One, which will be emailed to everyone this week. You will have more than a full week to complete it; it is pretty short and should only take around 15 minutes, although since this is done at home -- you are free to take as long as you want to!
