For week of April 29-May 1, 2013 was created by Fred Ginsburg
I have received 3 scripts so far.... that means that 2 groups have yet to submit. I seriously cannot believe that at this late stage of the semester you have not figured out your scripts yet.
You really should be done principal photography by now and be working on post-production. Not much time in the semester is remaining, and remember that your deadline is NOT finals day, but the week before Finals!
Your Bolex projects should be complete and ready for screening on Monday or Wednesday.
A reminder that on Monday we will offer re-takes of the Mid-Term at 8am. Those not re-taking the test do not have to report until 8:45am.
Congrats to those of you who made the cut for Portfolio submission and got into either your first or second choice within the Film Option. The competition is very stiff, with over 125 submissions and only 45-48 accepted. Many of the "yes" portfolios scored above 90%, and a smaller group scored well above 80%.
If you were not accepted, there are a couple things to consider. First of all, there will be a few more accepted, since not all of the students who made the cut are able to continue on. Some do not pass their prereq's (in progress). Others are not able to come up with tuition or do not register for whatever reasons. Some students reconsider when they realize that the Film Option means 4 1/2 to 5 years in order to graduate, not the usual 4 years. Also, Film Option have to come up with at least $1500 cash for Senior Film, and a few hundred for intermediate film (355).
Multi-Media and TV are very good programs and the first choices of most CTVA majors. My own son preferred Multi-Media over Film (even though he could have easily made the cut, what with a 3.9 GPA, student film awards, and having learned filmmaking from his Dad and Uncle and our industry colleagues). There is nothing wrong with NOT going into the Film Option.
